FAFSA and DCTAG Updates

FAFSA Updates and Issues

Federal Student Aid has not started processing FAFSAs yet. If the FAFSA status says, “In Review,” the student has done all they can do for the time being. Corrections (including adding colleges) can be made after the FAFSA is processed.

There are several known issues related to the FAFSA soft launch. If you encounter a problem, visit fsapartners.ed.gov and check the “Knowledge Center” to see if there is a solution to your problem:

DCTAG Will Now Open on March 11, 2024

The DC Tuition Assistance Grant (DCTAG) application, or the DC OneApp, requires information from the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to determine student eligibility for DCTAG. The US Department of Education has announced that FAFSA information, which has historically been made available in January, will not be available until mid-March. To accommodate this shift and ensure a smooth application process for students and families, the DCTAG application will now open on March 11, 2024, not February 1, 2024. The application period will remain open until September 6, 2024.
